The Primal Split

15" X 20" serigraph The awareness of two primal forces, the yin and the yang, emerges early iin China, but only in the Had dynasty that it became dominant. The Primal Split was in the beginning of Creation, when the first positive and nagative forces polarized, creating a tension that is continuously relaxed and tensed in reciprocal acts of fission and fusion, dividing and uniting. Along the top and bottom rows of the print are ancient ideographs related to the eight Chinese trigrams: Fire, Thunder (rain), Heaven, Lake (sun), Wind, Earth (plant) Mountain and Water.
